Age
18 Years to No maximum

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Diagnosed with HF 1 year ago; any etiology; both sexes; older than 18 years; presenting an ejection fraction of less than 50%; clinically stable; no change in medications in the last 3 months.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Pregnancy and breastfeeding; presenting an injury that impairs the performance of the exercises; show signs of ischemia or major ECG abnormality.

To evaluate the effect of 16 weeks of two different training strategies on functional capacity in individuals with heart failure through exercise testing. There was a significant increase in oxygen consumption (i.e., which reflects functional capacity) only in the strength training group (Strength training 26.92 ± 9.81 x 30.52 ± 8.39 mL.kg-1.min- 1 - p = 0.025; aerobic training: 19.60 ± 7.00 x 22.42 ± 8.54 mL.kg-1.min-1 - p = 0.119). ;To evaluate the 16-week effect of two different training strategies on maximum upper limb muscle strength in individuals with heart failure using the 1-repetition maximum test. Both groups significantly increased strength (Strength training: 45 ± 17 x 51 ± 20 kg - p = 0.001; aerobic training: 38 ± 19 x 42 ± 20 kg - p = 0.012).;To evaluate the effect of 16 weeks of two different training strategies on quality of life in individuals with heart failure using a questionnaire. There was no significant change in quality of life in both groups (Strength training: 30 ± 18 x 24 ± 20 - p = 0.109; aerobic training: 36 ± 16 x 26 ± 15 - p = 0.143).
