Eligibility

Age
35 Years to 50 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Systemically healthy individuals aged 35 to 50 years, of either sex, with at least 15 teeth; at least 30% of teeth presenting Probing Depth (PD) and Clinical Attachment Loss (CAL) greater than 4 mm; and a minimum of 6 teeth with at least one interproximal site presenting Probing Depth (PD) and Clinical Attachment Loss (CAL) greater than or equal to 5 mm

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Completely edentulous individuals; partially edentulous individuals with fewer than 15 teeth present in the oral cavity, considering teeth indicated for extraction; pregnant women; smokers; individuals with type 1 or type 2 diabetes mellitus; individuals with chronic diseases such as chronic arterial hypertension, grade III or IV heart failure, and Parkinson’s disease; individuals with pacemakers or presenting atrial fibrillation/flutter; individuals who received periodontal treatment within the previous 12 months; and individuals who used antibiotics within the 6 months preceding the study will be excluded from the study

MeasureTime frame
Changes in heart rate variability parameters and levels of inflammatory markers are expected to be identified in individuals with periodontitis, verified through comparison of periodontal clinical, cardiovascular, and laboratory data obtained before and after periodontal intervention, based on the observation of variations in the evaluated parameters between the test and control groups.

MeasureTime frame
An association between periodontal clinical parameters and heart rate variability parameters and plasma levels of pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory markers and cytokines is expected to be identified through comparative analysis of the clinical and laboratory parameters obtained in the test and control groups before and after periodontal intervention.
