The objective of this clinical study is to investigate the effects of endodontic treatment, using an irrigation protocol, on bacteria, endotoxins and evaluation of cytotoxic effects in root canals wit
EDTA 17% will be used to remove smear layer and Calcium hidroxide solution as final irrigation. The root canals were filled with calcium hydroxide for 14 days and then the canals will be obturated. Sa

Age
13 Years to No maximum

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients of both genders; periapical bone rarefaction visible on radiography; without previous endodontic treatment, under conditions that justify the endodontic treatment; without systemic alterations, such as chronic degenerative diseases, infectious processes, autoimmune diseases or induced or acquired immunodeficiencies; absence of antibiotics in the 90 days prior to the beginning of the research

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: teeth with a periodontal pocket greater than 4 mm; roots with a length of less than 15 mm or greater than 25 mm; incomplete apicigenesis; loss of dental tissue that prevents absolute isolation, or root canal alterations, calcifications or resorptions.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Reduction of 80% of bacterial levels after the different steps of endodontic treatment, verified by the quantitative PCR method by analyzing rDNA and rRNA.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Reduction of 40% of endotoxin levels and neutralization of cytotoxic effects after final irrigation protocol and intracanal medication, verified by LAL and ELISA.
