Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: patients diagnosed with COPD according to the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD); clinically stable patients without exacerbations or changes in medications for at least 30 days; they are not smokers; patients who do not undergo home oxygen therapy; patients without pathological conditions that prevent physical activity; no severe or unstable heart disease diagnosed by electrocardiogram; does not present any other pathological condition that may influence the systemic inflammatory process; not participating in another systematic exercise program.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Exacerbations or intercurrences that prevent the continuity of the training protocol; frequency of less than 75% of the sessions.
Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| It is expected that the proposal to insert a functional circuit to the proposed exercise programs in pulmonary rehabilitation will present positive results on functionality (functional capacity, muscular strength, balance), body composition, heart rate variability, peripheral muscle oxygenation, aerobic capacity and recovery after maximum effort, dyspnea, quality of life, daily life activities and increased physical activity in the daily life of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); it is expected to be able to elucidate the complex molecular immuno-metabolic process that occurs in the disease and that is not yet fully elucidated. It is expected that the proposed training will promote beneficial changes in the immune metabolic profile in order to increase the synthesis of anti-inflammatory cytokines and, in return, reduce the inflammatory process that occurs in the disease. Is expected that the training to present good acceptability and satisfaction for patients with COPD. | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| It is expected that the possible increase in physical activity in daily life and functionality be maintained after three months of the end of the training. | — |
