Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with familial hypercholesterolemia genetic diagnosis performed by Brazilian`s Heart Institute (INCOR) e attending to cardiological treatment in National Institute of Cardiology-Brazil.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Oral feeding difficulties; clinical suspicion or diagnosis of hepatopathy and nephropathy in dialysis; oncological patients or patients undergoing gastroplasty; previous organ transplantation; wheelchair users; congestive heart failure; postoperative cardiac surgery (30 days); nutritional follow-up in the last 6 months.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
General health status improvement, verified through the SF-36 survey (Medical Outcomes Study 36 - Item Short - Form Health Survey), checked from the variation of at least 10 points in this score in the pre- and post-intervention measurements.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Improvement in food consumption, verified through the application of a 24-hour food recall and a 3-day food record, based on a reduction of at least 10% in trans fat consumption and 5% in fiber consumption in the measurements pre and post intervention. ;Improvement of body composition, verified by bioimpedance test, abased on a reduction of at least 5% of body fat percentage in pre and post-intervention measurements.
