Interventions

This is a prospective, randomized, controlled clinical trial with two parallel groups involving participants undergoing bimaxillary orthognathic surgery. The initial sample will consist of 30 particip
Group B: n = 15). Due to the nature of the intervention, participants and the outcome assessor will not be blinded
however, the statistician responsible for data analysis will be blinded to group allocation, characterizing partial masking. All participants will undergo bimaxillary orthognathic surgery, including L

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Participants aged 18 years or older; of both sexes; with Class III dentofacial deformity; undergoing orthognathic surgery.

Exclusion criteria: Presence of comorbidities or chronic use of medications with potential influence on postoperative edema; hypersensitivity to elastic therapeutic taping; failure to attend postoperative follow-up visits or withdrawal from the study; occurrence of postoperative infection, surgical wound dehiscence, or undesirable fractures during the intraoperative period.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
It is expected that the use of Kinesio Taping will improve the control of edema, pain, and trismus in the postoperative period of participants undergoing orthognathic surgery. The analysis of the results is expected to allow comparison between the different Kinesio Taping application methods used in the study, contributing to a better understanding of their effects on the clinical variables evaluated and generating evidence with a high level of reliability due to the methodological design adopted.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
No secondary outcomes were expected.
