Interventions

This is a two-arm, double-blind, randomized controlled clinical trial. The nutritional intervention will be developed based on the "Instrutivo para Manejo da Obesidade no Sistema Único de Saúde – Volu

Eligibility

Age
20 Years to No maximum

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Being 20 years or more; having obesity without indication for bariatric surgery; being frequent in Program' activities (that is, participation in at least one exercise class in the month before the begging of data collection); having desire and willingness to participate in groups on six months or more; and being in the stages of change from "preparation with high self-efficacy" or "action" or "maintenance" to reduce body weight

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Being pregnant and/or having cognitive difficulties that make impossible to answer the questionnaire

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Weight reduction using the percentage of weight change {% change in weight= [(baseline weight - revaluation weight) / baseline weight] x 100}. The weight reduction will be confirmed if the revaluation weight will be 3% less than the baseline weight.;Reduction in waist circumference (WC) using the delta (delta = WC at baseline – WC at revaluation) and the percentage of WC change {% of WC change = [(WC at baseline – WC at revaluation) / WC at baseline] x100}. The reduction in the waist circumference will be confirmed if any decrease in the measure at revaluation will be indentified.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Evolution in the stages of changes, using an algorithm applied in baseline and revaluation. The evolution will be confirmed if progress in the intention to reduce weight in revaluation will be identified.;Increase in the self-efficacy using a questionnaire applied in baseline and revaluation. The increase will be confirmed if a higher confidence to reduce weight in revaluation will be identified.;Evolution in the decisional balance using a questionnaire applied in baseline and revaluation. The evolution will be confirmed if a higher identification of potential gains in behavior changes to reduce weight than potential losses in revaluation will be identified.;Increase in the consumption of culinary preparations using a questionnaire applied in baseline and revaluation. The increase will be confirmed if a higher consumption in revaluation will be identified.;Decrease in the consumption of ultra-processed foods using a questionnaire applied in baseline and revaluation. The decrease will be confirmed if decreasing in consumption of ultra-processed foods in revaluation will be identified.
