Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Individuals of both genders; with anteroposterior discrepancy between the maxilla and mandible, caused by maxillary retrognathism, mandibular protrusion, or a combination of both, clinically evaluated through facial analysis (nasolabial angle, chin neck line and angle) and cephalometrically through the ANB angle and Witts analysis; with Angle Class III malocclusion or Class III subdivision; with mixed or early permanent dentition; those who underwent orthodontic treatment with maxillary expansion and traction

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individuals with decayed teeth and periodontal compromise; with cleft lip or palate and patients with special needs; those who had not undergone the exams after the treatment or the observation period

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
It is expected to find greater improvement in breathing pattern and airway obstruction in group 2, treated with alternating maxillary expansion and constriction protocol associated with facemask therapy, assssed by anamnesis, clinical examination and nasofibroscopy

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
A greater sagittal advancement of the maxilla is expected in Group 2, treated with the Alternate Rapid Maxillary Expansion and Constriction protocol combined with facemask therapy, as assessed by cephalometric analysis
