Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Children who have caries activity defined by the presence of at least one active initial lesion will be included (ICDAS-II Scores 1 and 2); no history of allergy to silver, colophonium, fluorine, chlorhexidine, xylitol or vehicles used in cariostatic formulations.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Children who used antibiotics in the last three months will be excluded; who use other systemic medications; who have dental elements with pulp involvement; carriers of syndromes or mental disorders.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
We intend to demonstrate that diamino silver fluoride has a superior performance to the control (placebo) and chlorhexidine combined with xylitol, with significant differences (p value less than or equal to 0.05) not referring to the reduction of scores of the International System of Caries Detection and Assessment (ICDAS-II) among the selection groups.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
We expect to find a reduction in the levels of salivary mutans streptococci with statistically significant differences (p value less than or equal to 0.05) when comparing the group treated with silver diamino fluoride (treatment group), the control group (placebo) and the treatment group with chlorhexidine combined with xylitol (alternative treatment).
