18 Years to 70 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Individuals of both genders, aged between 18 and 70 years, after liver transplantation, admitted to the Adult Intensive Care Unit of the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) will be evaluated. Patients who have undergone liver transplantation and are admitted to the unit still requiring ventilatory support via orotracheal tube and mechanical ventilation and are electively extubated will be considered eligible to participate in the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: patients who for some reason are re-intubated, that is, need to return to mechanical ventilation, who are not conscious and oriented enough to obey commands and re-liver transplants

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Surface Electromyography, as well as static (PIMAX) and dynamic assessments of muscle strength using the Powerbreathe® S-Index, are expected to be methods capable of verifying changes in muscle performance (strength, endurance) in patients undergoing LTx and to be able to correlate them with the factors involved throughout the period of hospitalization in the ICU. In addition, this analysis will become important for verifying conducts that prevent these changes and that favor a better quality of life for this population.
