Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Healthy patients of both genders, between 18 and 35 years old, who had the necessity of bilateral lower third molar extraction with similar clinical and radiographic characteristics by Winter and Pell and Gregory classification were recruited.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: We did not include individuals who had used analgesic or anti-inflammatory drugs in the last 15 days, underwent previous surgery in the region of the lower third molar, or had inflammatory conditions in the region of the lower third molar. If there were significant differences operative lasting between the groups, intraoperative complications, postoperative complications, or patient did not return in the postoperative period, data from those cases were excluded from the final sample.

| Evaluate the percentage of facial edema measured by means of three straight measurements between anatomical points of the face: Auricular Tragus - labial commissure; tragus - corner of the eye and angle goníaco -corner of the eye. The measurements were made using a flexible measuring tape and the measurements were expressed in mm in the preoperative periods, 48 hours and 7 days after surgery. ;Evaluate postoperative pain using a visual analog scale (VAS) measured in mm by annotating a 10cm constant line of the participant's postoperative diary and by total tablets analgesic consumption | — |
