Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Had diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, intersticial lung diseases, bronchiectasis, occupational diseases, pulmonary hypertension, and allergenic status; were stable over the past month and sign the written informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Self-reported concomitant cardiovascular, orthopaedic or neurological conditions that were likely to impair exercise performance; body mass index over 35 kg/m2; diagnosis of major psychiatric illness; incapacity to give the informed consent; incapacity to understand or perform the tests of the study

Equivalence in physiological responses: Similar physiological responses are expected to be found between the Glittre Endurance Tests and existing tests to assess functional capacity such as the six-minute walk test, endurance shuttle walk test, Glittre ADL Test, six-minute pegboard and ring test, unsupported upper limb exercise test, and five-repetition sit to stand test. Physiological responses will be evaluated through peripheral oxygen saturation and also heart rate. As equivalence limits, values of 3% for oxygen saturation and 18 beats per minute for heart rate will be used. The pulse oximeter (Pulse oximeter, Massimo Corporation, Irvine, USA) will be used to check the oxygen saturation and heart rate of the participants, at rest and during each minute of the test. Six-minute walk test (6MWT):The 6MWT assesses functional capacity and is widely used in research and clinical practice as a tool to assess different interventions and as a predictor of morbidity and mortality.The test is also frequently used to assess the improvement in exercise capacity in individuals with different lung diseases, in addition to providing additional information to the cardiopulmonary test, as it correlates with activities of daily living and quality of life. The test will be conducted in a 30 meter corridor following all the recommendations established by the American Thoracic Society. Glittre ADL test: The Glittre ADL test is a functional measure originally developed to assess people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It is a valid, reliable and standardised test that involves different tasks such as walking, walking up and down steps, reaching, gripping and shifting weight. The test is carried out in a 10 meter corridor delimited on one side by a chair and on the other by a shelf. Improvement of walking time in the Glittre Endurance Test (modification of the Glittre ADL Test) as an outcome measure of the effects of pulmonary rehabilitation. There is no literature on what would be considered a minimal clinically relevant difference and, therefore, the criterion of a statistically significant difference compared to baseline will be used.;Impact of backpack removal on Glittre ADL Test performance: It is expected to reduce the time to complete the test performed without the backpack and similar physiological responses. As equivalence limits, values ??of 3% for oxygen saturation and 18 beats per minute for heart rate will be used.;Relationship between the Glittre Endurance Test and the level of physical activity, measured by a monitor: The Axivity AX3 activity monitor (New Castle up on Tyne, United Kingdom) is used to provide the total energy expenditure over a given period of time. It is a reliable, non-invasive instrument and can be used in different regions of the body. This monitor automatically detects non-use time and provides an accurate estimate of energy expenditure during activity-free times and during physical activity throughout the days. Upon completion of the tests, subjects will be equipped with the monitor to use for seven days.;Relationship between the Glittre Endurance Test and manual pressure measured using a dynamometer: Handgrip strength is a measure of isometric strength, which involves the application of force on an immovable object. This measure has strong correlations with muscle mass and strength of the upper and lower limbs for individuals with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and is also associated with the performance of these individuals during exercise. Studies show an association between muscle weakness and reduced endurance with the degree of respiratory impairment, health-related quality of life, the risk of severe COPD exacerbations and even mortality.
