Conditions

Muscle strength, quality of life, fear of falling

Interventions

Strength Training on unstable surfaces. The public (60 volunteers) will be randomized and allocated into three groups: 1) Group that will train four sessions a week for six weeks
2) Group that will train two sessions a week for 12 weeks
and 3) Control group that will maintain their usual activities. The training protocol will consist of eight exercises for the entire body (Bench Press, Legpress 45°, Shoulder Press with Dumbbell, Step

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
It is expected from this study that the results obtained in a shorter period (6 weeks) with more weekly workouts (4 sessions) will be the same for a longer period (12 weeks) with less weekly workouts (2 sessions) with respect to neuromuscular capacity through the evaluation of muscle strength, quantified by the 1 RM Test (a maximum repetition)

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
It is also expected that the results obtained in a shorter period (6 weeks) with more weekly trainings (4 sessions) will be the same in for a longer period (12 weeks) with fewer weekly workouts (2 sessions) regarding quality of life, measured by scores generated by the self-administered questionnaire (WHOQOL);It is also expected that the results obtained in a shorter period (6 weeks) with more weekly trainings (4 sessions) will be the same in for a longer period (12 weeks) with fewer weekly trainings (2 sessions) regarding the fear of falling, measured by scores generated by the self-applicable questionnaire (FES-I)
