Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: The inclusion criteria for this study will be: Patients with type I or type II diabetes; Patients who are completely edentulous in the lower arch; Patients who do not wear prostheses or who have inadequate complete dentures; Patients that was submitted to tooth extractions at least 12 months prior to the rehabilitation procedure (completely edentulous for at least 1 year); Patients between 40 and 70 years old
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients with the following characteristics will be excluded from this study: Partial of dentate patients; Smokers who smoke more than 10 cigarettes per day; Users of medications that alter bone metabolism; Pregnant or breastfeeding; 6) patients who do not understand the terms of the informed consent form

Secondary

| Cost-effectiveness analysis will be a secondary outcome to be evaluated through this study. It is expected that the treatment of edentulism in diabetic patients using implant-supported prostheses will be 50% more cost-effective than treatment with mucosally supported complete dentures, resulting in a 10% improvement in quality of life, a 30% improvement in chewing quality, and a 0.5% improvement in metabolic control;Metabolic control will be a secondary outcome to be evaluated through this study. It is expected that users of prostheses retained by two implants will show a 0.5% reduction in glycemic control marker indices compared to patients using mucosally supported complete dentures;The level of adaptation to the prostheses will be a secondary outcome of this study. It is expected that patients who receive edentulism treatment with implant-retained prostheses will show 10% better adaptation to their prostheses compared to patients who receive mucosally supported complete dentures;Peri-implant clinical and radiographic parameters will be used to determine the success of implants placed in patients with diabetes. This outcome will be considered as secondary in this study. It is expect that the implant success rate will be greater than 90%;Quality of life will be a secondary outcome to be evaluated through this study. It is expected that users of implant-retained prostheses will have a 10% better score on the OHIP-EDENT questionnaire than patients using mucosally supported complete dentures | — |
