Interventions

This is a randomized controlled experimental study that will be carried out in two Basic Health Units in the municipality of Juiz de Fora - MG, where one of the care models offered is the Family Healt
however, it is estimated that 200 total participants will take part, with 100 participants in each group - the experimental group and the control group. Allocation to the experimental or control group

Age
20 Years to No maximum

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Individuals aged 20 years or over; of both sexes; covered by the Basic Health Units involved in the study; with a clinical diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus through medical records and/or confirmation from the Family Health Strategy team; able to talk; who have a cell phone with access to a private WhatsApp account or can use a third party's account on the same application

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individuals who have some cognitive impairment that influences their responses and participation in the study, and such impairment will be considered through the individual's self-report, when possible, and/or the report of a family member or guardian and/or medical records; individuals who are not available to be present in the intervention groups; pregnant women; nursing mothers; individuals who are undergoing nutritional monitoring in public or private services at the time of the study or have undergone nutritional monitoring in public or private services in the 12 months prior to the study, considering the individual's self-report and/or records of care in public services

Primary

MeasureTime frame
It is hoped to find an increase in the level of knowledge about diabetes and changes in relation to food choices and adherence to nutritional treatment after the nutritional educational intervention carried out, showing healthy eating habits, which will be verified by comparing the results of the instruments applied before and after the intervention.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
It is hoped to find a relationship between sociodemographic data and food choices, which will be verified through the results of the instruments applied before and after the nutritional education intervention.
