Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: catheters inserted in the right upper limb

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: newborns with skin lesions where the electrodes were placed; newborn who inserted the catheter in a place other than the right upper limb

Expected outcome 1: Evaluate whether there is interference from the presence of a peripherally inserted central catheter in measuring resistance and reactance using the bioelectrical impedance method in newborns. The n-sample was calculated, taking into account a difference between the 44 averages of 5.0 ohms for reactance and 60.0 ohms for resistance, alpha error of 5%, beta error of 10% and significance of 95%. The calculated n-sample was 55 and research participants.;Outcome found 1: We observed a significant correlation between resistance (0.878) and reactance (0.765) values ??before and after PICC insertion. It is also observed that the higher the R and Xc values, the lower the correlation between the measurements, the clearer in relation to Xc, with greater dispersion between the highest values. It was expected that the values ??of R and Xc after insertion of the PICC would be higher, which was not evidenced.
