Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Intervention with the educational primer was effective in increasing adherence to care for prevention of vertical transmission of HIV from the baseline to the second assessment 7-15 days later in the intragroup analysis, as the mean increase in the group adherence score intervention (GI) from 13.10 (SD = 2.64) to 14.31 (SD = 2.32) with p value less than 0.0001. Meanwhile, the control group (CG) increased from 12.24 (SD = 3.05) to 12.64 (SD = 3.02) with p = 0.391

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
It was evidenced that GI started at baseline with a higher knowledge score (4.71) than GC (4.10) and remained always higher throughout the study time and always increasing in the three evaluations (4 , 71, 5.33, 5.58). Meanwhile, CG had an increase in score with 7-15 days compared to baseline (4.95) and then decreased knowledge within 30 days after delivery (4,71). However, although the GI score remained higher throughout the study, there was no statistical difference between the mean scores between baseline groups (p = 0.387), 7-15 days (p = = 0.490), nor 30 days postpartum (p = 0.151)
