Age
60 Years to 75 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Participants of both sexes; aged 60 to 75 years; Body mass index (BMI) greater than 20 kg/m²

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Creatine supplementation in the past month; mild cognitive impairment; use of anabolic steroids or selective androgen receptor modulators (SARMs); heart failure; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; chronic kidney disease

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
A reduction in skeletal muscle mass and telomere length is expected to be found in older adults with food insecurity, assessed through skeletal muscle mass measurement using D3-creatine and telomere length measurement using quantitative PCR.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Changes in physical functionality are expected to be found in older adults with food insecurity, assessed through handgrip strength and Short Physical Performance Battery
