Conditions

Post-eruptive changes in the color of the hard tissues of the teeth

Interventions

Fifty patients will be treated for both groups in the split-mouth model. The teeth will be subjected to previous prophylaxis, with rubber cup, pumice stone and water, aiming to remove dental biofilm an
Kerr, CA, United States). The 35% hydrogen peroxide gel (Whiteness HP 35%, FGM, Joinville, SC, Brazil) will be applied with a spatula on the buccal surface of premolar to the premolar in both arches,

Eligibility

Age
18 Years to 30 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Volunteers between 18 and 30 years of age; regardless of gender or ethnicit; who present good oral and general health; who agree to participate in the study and present in the two arches all the anterior teeth until the second premolars. Have at least one of the anterior-superior teeth classified as A2 color or lower value compared to the Vita scale.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individuals with caries and restorations in the region between the premolars; who underwent orthodontic treatment; who require dental extractions in the anterior region; who have already undergone previous bleaching treatment; pregnant women; infants; severe discoloration (tetracycline, fluorosis); teeth with endodontic treatment; non-carious cervical lesions; parafunctional habits; previous sensitivity; periodontal disease; smokers; use of anti-inflammatories in the last 3 months; antibiotics; antifungals or any other drug that causes effects on blood action.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Sensitivity Intensity Dental sensitivity will be characterized by: Occurrence (OS), Intensity (IS), Type (TS) and Duration (DS). This data will be obtained by self-completion of a specific form. OS will be analyzed according to whether or not the sensitivity is reported. The IS will be classified according to the following scores: 0: no sensitivity (0) 1: mild sensitivity (1-2) 2: moderate sensitivity (3-5) 3: considerable sensitivity (6-8) 4: severe sensitivity (9-10) For TS, volunteers should describe in a word the sensed feeling. The DS will be ranked in 5 levels: 1 second, 1 minute, 5 minutes, 1 hour and more than 1 hour. If the volunteer needs to use analgesic for pain relief, he / she should discriminate this fact in a specific place on the evaluation form. The volunteers will be evaluated through the VAS questionnaire. In this method, patients will record, at each visit, any and all tender and soft tissue sensitivities that occur, making a vertical risk in a horizontal line, with a mark from 0 to 10, which varies from no sensitivity to extreme sensitivity. ;Pulpal Oxygen Saturation (% SaO2) Dental bleaching can alter the saturation of pulp oxygen. Initially,% SaO2 will be measured on the right thumb of all volunteers using a MD300A pulse oximeter (IMFtec Tecnología para Saúde LTDA, São Paulo, SP, Brazil) adapted to Odontology (OPO) (Costa et al 2013). This will be coupled to a? Y? used to measure the SaO2 pulp of the teeth after prophylaxis, relative insulation with cotton rollers and air-jet drying. The sensors and their cables will be covered with PVC film so they do not come in direct contact with the oral tissues. The light-emitting sensor will be positioned on the vestibular face of the tooth and the receptor sensor on the palatal or lingual surface, maintaining the parallelism between the two diodes (Costa et al 2013). Volunteers will be instructed not to move their heads during measurements. The light of the dental equipment reflector will be t

MeasureTime frame
Radiographic evaluation The evaluation of the teeth to be cleared in two times, before the treatment and after one year, will be performed in order to verify changes in the pulp cavity and the peri-penis. The teeth will be radiographed with periapical E-speed adult film (Eastman Kodak Company, Rochester, USA) and exposure time of 0.8 seconds. The volunteers will be protected with a lead apron during the radiographic procedure, three radiographic shots will be performed for each arch. ;Color evaluation Dental bleaching should ensure change in tooth color according to two instruments: the color guide of the Vita scale (Vita Classical, Vita Zahnfabrik, Bad Sackigen, Germânia) for subjective evaluation, and a spectrophotometer (Vita Easyshade advanced 4.0, Vita Zahnfabrik, Bad Sackigen, Germânia) for objective evaluation. The area of ??measurement of interest will be the medial third of the dental elements and the color examiner will be calibrated and blinded in relation to the treatment used by the volunteer. From the color guide of the Vita scale, 16 guides will be organized from the highest value (B1) to the smaller (C4) value thus arranged: B1 * A1 * B2 * D2 * A2 * C1 * C2 * D4 * A3 * D3 * B3 * A3.5 * B4 * C3 * A4 * C4. The evaluation will be performed under daylight and without external visual influences, such as lipstick and focus light, which will be eliminated to allow accurate selection. The color changes will be calculated by calculating the change in the number of color guide units (delta SGU). The spectrophotometer (Vita Easyshade advanced 4.0, Vita Zahnfabrik, Bad Sackigen, Germany) will scan the color of the teeth through an optical camera and display the selected color on the monitor screen. All values ??of L, a * and b * will be recorded (appendix 4) and tabulated for obtaining the delta L and delta E and subsequent statistical analysis. The spectrophotometer shall be calibrated prior to all measurements. This device measures the color based
