Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Parkinson Disease patients; constipation symptoms according to the bristol scale types 1 and 2 and diagnosis of chronic constipation according to the Rome III criteria; age over 18 years old; both sexes, agree to participate in data collection and sign the free and informed consent form (TCLE)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients diagnosed with dementia associated with Parkinsoon Disease, according to the criteria of the movement disorders society task force; history of other neurological diseases, with associated and diagnosed psychiatric illnesses; use of oral laxative medicatios, enemas and laxative suppositories during the study; use of antibiotics one month before the initial assessment; diagnosis or history of inflammatory and neoplastic gastrointestinal diseases

Expected outcome 1: To evaluate the number of weekly bowel movements after a nutritional intervention based on the principles of the Mediterranean diet in individuals with Parkinson's disease and constipation. ;Observed outcome 1: An increase in weekly bowel movements was observed after the intervention compared with the assessments performed before the follow-up period.;Expected outcome 2 : To evaluate gastrointestinal symptoms related to constipation after a nutritional intervention based on the principles of the Mediterranean diet in individuals with Parkinson's disease.;Observed outcome 2:Improvement in gastrointestinal symptoms related to constipation was observed throughout the follow-up period, accompanying the increase in bowel movement frequency and the normalization of stool consistency over the six-month follow-up

Expected outcome 3: To evaluate adherence to the Mediterranean diet using the Food Frequency Questionnaire and the Mediterranean Diet Adherence Screener (MEDAS), as well as the evolution of gastrointestinal symptoms related to constipation.;Observed outcome 3: Improved adherence to the Mediterranean diet was observed throughout the follow-up period, as assessed using the Food Frequency Questionnaire and the Mediterranean Diet Adherence Screener (MEDAS).;Expected outcome 4: To evaluate the number of weekly bowel movements and improvement in constipation using the Bristol Stool Form Scale after a Mediterranean diet-based nutritional intervention in individuals with Parkinson's disease.;Observed outcome 4:Improvement in stool consistency, assessed by the Bristol Stool Form Scale, was observed during follow-up. No statistically significant differences were found between the MedDiet and WaitList groups after three months (ß=0.10; 95% CI: -0.4 to 0.6; p=0.732). However, longitudinal analyses demonstrated progressive normalization of stool consistency over the six-month follow-up period.
