Prehypertension High blood pressure

This is a clinical trial with a randomized crossover controlled open design of 4 arms. 24 men between 18 and 59 years with blood pressure levels compatible with prehypertension will undergo four exper

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Males; 18 to 59 years; systolic blood pressure between 120-139 mmHg and diastoic blood pressure between 80-89 mmHg. No further evaluation required for physical exercise

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: smokers; body mass index greater than 35 kg/m2; diagnose of any chronic disease; regular use of medications that affect the cardiovascular system, vitamin complexes, or dietary supplements; physically active or regular participation in physical training programs; extreme evening or morning chronotypes; cardiovascular abnormalities during exercise

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
It is expected to observe a greater reduction in systolic blood pressure, measured by the auscultatory technique, after the exercise performed in the late afternoon with dim light than after the exercise performed in the morning with bright light with a difference of at least 4 mmHg.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
It is expected to obtain a greater increase in heart rate, assessed by eletrocardiograph, and in cardiac sympathovagal balance, assessed by heart rate variability, after the exercise performed in the morning with bright light than after the exercise performed at late afternoon under dim light with a difference of at least 10% ;It is expected to obtain a smaller increase in blood flow and flow-mediated dilation, assessed by brachial artery ultrasonography, after the exercise performed in the morning with bright light than after the exercise performed at late afternoon under dim light, with a difference of at least 15%;It is expected that the immediate heart rate recovery, assessed by a heart rate monitor, will be attenuated after the exercise performed at late afternoon under dim light compared to the exercise performed in the morning under bright light, with a difference of at least 10%
