Eligibility

Age
18 Years to 60 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: individuals of both sexes; age 18 years or older; diagnosis of stage III or IV periodontitis; no periodontal treatment within the last three months; no antibiotic therapy within the last three months

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: smoking; presence of uncontrolled systemic diseases; uncontrolled diabetes mellitus; pregnancy or lactation; malignant diseases; oncologic treatment; use of orthodontic appliances; allergy to methylene blue; age over 60 years

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Improvement in clinical periodontal parameters including clinical attachment level, probing depth, bleeding on probing, and dental biofilm index will be evaluated through clinical periodontal examination using a calibrated periodontal probe at six sites per tooth, assessed at baseline before the intervention and at 90 days after non-surgical periodontal treatment with or without antimicrobial photodynamic therapy

MeasureTime frame
Changes in immunoinflammatory marker levels including interleukin 1 beta, interleukin 6, interleukin 17, and tumor necrosis factor alpha in gingival crevicular fluid will be evaluated using enzyme linked immunosorbent assay, based on samples collected with absorbent paper points inserted into the periodontal pocket for 30 seconds, assessed at baseline before the intervention and at 90 days after non-surgical periodontal treatment with or without antimicrobial photodynamic therapy
