Eligibility

Age
60 Years to 85 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Be over 60 years old; be elderly without neurological changes or be diagnosed with Parkinson's disease; No pain, fracture or serious injury to soft tissuets in the 6 months previous to the study; no history od cognitive, respiratory or cardiovascular disorders not controlled; elderly with Parkinson's desease be classified in stages I to III of Hoehn e Yahr scale, elderly with Parkinson's desease not be in farmacological adaptation phase.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individuals who present uncontrolled cardiovascular changes, to presente score lower than 24 on Mini Mental State Examination that will be aplied before the collections.

Expected outcome 1: It is expected to find a significant increase in the rate of force development, measured by a load cell coupled to the leg press, after 8 weeks of power training, in the comparison between assessment and reassessment, since the rate of force development involves rapid recruitment of muscle fibers..;Outcome found 1: It was observed, after 8 weeks of training, that both, strength and power training, were able to increase the rate of force development, in addition to improving the individuals functionality and balance, in the comparison between assessment and reassessment, analyzed by the repeated measures ANOVA test.
