Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Interventions

A pulmonary rehabilitation protocol will be performed for a single group of individuals (a total of approximately 30 participants. The protocol consists of exercises: Aerobic exercises for lower limbs
Timed walk or exercise bike associated with virtual reality - objective greater distance covered (10 min)
Strengthening of abdominal muscles with exercises derived from the isostretching method (5 min)
Stretching of the cervical musculature and myofascial release of accessory and diaphragmatic musculature (5 min)
Aerobic exercises for upper limbs (arms) - free weights, associated with diaphragmatic breathing with series of 8 to 12 repetitions, with progressive loads (5 min)
Inspiratory muscle training (strengthening of inspiratory muscles) - IMT threshold - 40% of MIP (10 min). The protocol lasts approximately three months, 26 consultations will be carried out, two of wh

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Men and women in the age group above and / or equal to 18 years of age with a diagnosis of COPD and who accept to participate in the present study by signing the Informed Consent Form (ICF).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Major physical changes that impact the execution of the tests; people who do not have medical authorization to perform physical activities; pneumonia or flu patients; coughing up blood; unstable angina; recent acute myocardial infarction or after coronary graft surgery; acute congestive heart failure; severe aortic stenosis; recent eye surgery; severe and uncontrolled hypertensive crisis (BP = 170/100 mmHG at rest) and tachycardia> 120 bpm at rest; thoracic aortic aneurysm; acute pulmonary edema; uncontrolled arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
It is expected that the exercise protocol program positively impacts the symptoms presented by COPD patients, reducing them when compared to the beginning of the study.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
It is expected to improve the quality of life assessed through questionnaires, reduction of dyspnea and fatigue assessed by specific scales, as well as reduction in mortality measured by the index of patients with COPD.
