Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: elderly; both sexes; aged 60 or over; participate in some program carried out at UBS.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Did not present a cognitive level that would guarantee the understanding of the instruments of the study; wandering with auxiliary devices; perform another type of physical exercise concurrently; diagnosis of vestibular syndrome, visual impairment or any neurological disease and / or skeletal muscle that compromises locomotion.

Expected outcome 1: Gain in muscle strength of palmar grip, evaluated by means of the manual hydraulic dynamometer.;Result Found 1: There was an increase in the average muscle strength of palmar grip from 27.86 to 30.25 kgf.;Expected outcome 2 Gain of the quadriceps muscle strength determined by means of the 8-repetition maximal strength test (8RM), adapted for the elderly, through the 10 RM test.;Result Found 2 Increased quadriceps muscle strength, mean right lower limb from 3.8kg to 6.4kg, and left from 3.9kg to 5.7kg.;Expected outcome 3 Gain of posterior chain flexibility, performed through the sit-and-reach test, "Sit-And-Reach-Test", using the Wells Bank;Result Found 3 Gain of posterior chain flexibility, mean from 19.75 cm to 24.28 cm.;Expected outcome 4 Improvement in quality of life, in which the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaires were used to evaluate the quality of life in the physical, psychological, social and environmental domains134, and the WHOQOL-OLD, which considers the domains: sensory functioning; autonomy; past, present and future activities; social participation; death and dying and intimacy.;Result Found 4 Improvement of all domains of the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire (Averages: Physical Domain 73.0 to 80.3, Psychological 70.6 to 78.5, Social Relations 81.6 to 87.5, Environment 69.2 to 75.4 ) For the WHOQOL-OLD questionnaire there was significant improvement only in the "autonomy" domain, mean of 67.8 to 75.9.
