Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients of both sexes in a balanced number without age criteria; total edentulous rehabilitated with maxillary and mandibular complete dentures that present instability and / or dissatisfaction with their lower dentures; no self-reported systemic health problems; do not use any medication in the last 3 months that affects the immune response; adequate bone quality; availability without the need for local bone graft.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individuals with uncontrolled hypertension or diabetes; hemorrhagic disorders, severe systemic diseases; compromised immune system; history of radiotherapy in the head or neck; users of bisphosphonates for less than three years.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Radiological monitoring of peri-implant stability for 5 years performed by marginal bone loss measurement.;Clinical monitoring of peri-implant health for 5 years performed by the followings indicators: visible plaque index, presence of calculus, degree of peri-implant inflammation and probing depth.;Evolution of the masticatory function via masticatory performance and swallowing threshold tests anually performed for 5 years.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Primary and secondary stability of implants measured by resonance frequency analysis through the implant stability quotient (ISQ) registered by the Osstell® device.;Posterior bone loss measured on panoramic radiographs using proportional measurements of the posterior mandibular areas and a posterior area index (PAI).;Residual ridge reabsorption of the posterior and anterior residual in the maxilla measured by panoramic radiography evaluated using the proportional area measurements.;Bite strength assessed by digital gnatodinamometer .;Estimation of implant success and survival rates.;Survey of the types and frequency of prosthetic complications through the analysis of the records made in the annual periodic follow-ups after mandibular overdentures loading.
