Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Expected result 1: Increased dental treatments for behavior modification in patients with Down syndrome through conscious sedation verified by the Houpt scale from the observation of a behavioral variation of at least 50% of study subjects. ;Result found 1: Increased dental treatment for behavioral modification in patients with Down syndrome through conscious sedation verified by the Houpt scale from the observation of a behavioral variation of at least 100% of the individuals in the study. The Houpt Sedation Rating Scale assesses behaviors including sleep (rated 1 to 3), movement (rated 1 to 4), crying (rated 1 to 4), and overall behaviors (rated 1 to 6).No significant differences in sleep, crying or movement were observed among patients receiving the 15 mg and the 30 mg dose. However, significant differences in overall behavior (rated 1 to 6) were observed among patients receiving the 15 mg and the 30 mg dose; 71.4% of patients treated with the 15 mg dose had Houpt Scale Overall Behavior scores of 4 (good) or 5 (very good), whereas 93.33% of those receiving 30 mg had scores of 5 (very good) or 6 (excellent behavior) (Chi square= 10.739 p-value <0.013). | — |

| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Expected result 1: Increased dental treatment for behavioral modification in patients with Down syndrome through conscious sedation with 15 mg of midazolam verified by the Houpt scale from the observation of a behavioral variation of at least 50% Of the individuals in the study. In the case that this dose did not result effectively to make a satisfactory sedation increases the dose to 30 mg to the following session. ;Result found 1: Increased dental treatments for behavior modification in patients with Down syndrome through conscious sedation with 15 mg midazolam in patients younger than 22 years and with 30 mg midazolam in those over 22 years of age verified by the scale of Houpt from the finding of a variation of the conduct of 100% of the individuals of the study. | — |
