Age
8 Years to 21 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Have diagnosis Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus; be from eight and 21 years old (incomplete); have less than five years of disease; be willing to participate in the educational sessions; sign the consent form (TCLE)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Non adhere to the consent form (TCLE); have visual, auditory deficiency, active psychiatric illness or mental disability that compromises understanding of the educational content; participating or having participated in another diabetes education program at the time of inclusion in the study; pregnancy

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Reduction of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) in the intervention group in relation to the control;Evaluation of serum levels of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) at the start and after 3, 6, 9 and 12 months to assess whether the reduction in the intervention group is greater than in the control group

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate if the frequency of ketoacidosis, hypoglycaemia and admissions due to diabetes in the period of 12 months after starting the study is different between the intervention and control groups;Evaluate, through a questionnaire at each visit, whether there was hospitalization due to ketoacidosis, hypoglycaemia or other diabetes-related causes during the 12-month period after starting the study and whether there was any difference between the groups
