Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult patients with end-stage renal disease on peritoneal dialysis for at least 30 days

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Recent hospitalization due to infection (less than 30 days); active cancer; grade 4 or 3 congestive heart failure.

Expected outcome 1. We expected a reduction in left ventricular index mass of any amount in patients using icodextrin and not in the control group, measured by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging at baseline and one year after the intervention. ;Observed outcome 1. There was no significant reduction in left ventricular index mass in patients using icodextrin

Expected outcome 2. An improvement in blood volume control is expected in patients treated with icodextrin;Observed outcome 2. The results on volemic status did not show an improvement in volume overload, measured by electrical bioimpedance.
