Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: The sample consisted of systemically healthy patients; age range 18 to 60 years old; diagnosed with chronic periodontal disease.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: The exclusion criteria consisted of patients presenting any negatively tissue healing pathology (eg diabetes mellitus); pregnant and breastfeeding women; participants who were allergic to the study adjuvants; smokers.

| Improvement in periodontal parameters, gingival bleeding, biofilm index, position of the gingival margin, depth of vertical probing and level of clinical insertion. The procedures were performed under infiltrative anesthesia with 2% lidocaine and epinephrine 1: 100,000; corono-root scraping and smoothing (RACR) with McCall universal curettes 13-14 and 17-18 for supra-gingival regions and Gracey curettes 5-6, 7-8, 11-12, 13-14 for subgingival regions and sickles 00 and McCall 11-12 for interproximal regions; coronary polishing with a rubber and Robinson's brush associated with diamond polishing paste; irrigation of bags with: Group A (test group): received basic periodontal therapy associated with irrigation of periodontal pockets with 2.5% tea tree gel. Group B (positive control group): received basic periodontal therapy associated with the irrigation of periodontal pockets with 1% chlorhexidine gel. | — |
