Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Evaluate the presence and severity of periapical bone alterations. Verified by the method of digital periapical radiography analysis. It will be observed by calculating the lesion area in square millimeters (mm²) using the ImageJ software and counting the number of lesions per individual, classifying the severity according to the Periapical Index (PAI score = 2) | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Evaluate the systemic and local immunoinflammatory and osteoimmunological mechanisms, as well as the metabolic profile. Verified by the method of analyzing unstimulated saliva and peripheral blood serum using multiplex technology (Milliplex MAP kits) and biochemical laboratory tests. It will be observed by quantifying the concentrations (in pg/mL) of pro and anti-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1B, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-17, TNF-a, IFN-?), matrix metalloproteinases (MMP-1, MMP-3, MMP-8, MMP-9, MMP-13), osteoimmunological axis molecules (RANK, RANKL, OPG), and measuring blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR), and lipid profile (Total Cholesterol, HDL, LDL, Triglycerides) in mg/dL | — |
