Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: body mass index between 25 and 39.9 kg/m2; aged between 20 and 64 years; who receive outpatient care in general nutrition and nutrition in endocrinology hospital of the University Federal of Goiás

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Do not perform all evaluations; Participate in a program of food restriction; Body mass index less than 25 kg/m2 or 40 kg/m2; Patients with immune diseases or immunosuppressive drugs; Patients with liver or kidney disease; chronic alcoholics; In using nutritional supplements; Pregnant women; In insulin.

With the administration of probiotic Bifidobacterium bifidum and supplement containing Lactobacillus Acidophillus is expected reduction of 5% of LPS concentrations from the analysis by enzyme immunoassay. It is also expected to 5% reduction of TNF-alpha and IL-6 concentrations analyzed by the multiplex technique, the concurrent increase of adiponectin 5%, as assessed by multiplex technique. Expected to increase by 5% of the antioxidant activity of catalase, glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase, analyzed by ELISA and also reduction of 5% of malondialdehyde concentrations, analyzed by HPLC. Expected reduction of 3% body fat assessed by bone densitometry, and also a 3% reduction of LDL cholesterol evaluated according to the Friedewald formula. In addition, it is expected that there will be a modulation of the intestinal microbiota related to the benefits found ;At baseline, the groups did not differ regarding to body composition. PG and SG reduced body weight, %fat, BMI, waist circumference and serum concentrations of urea, creatinine and glycated hemoglobin, furthermore both increased %lean mass. However, only SG reduced fat mass, serum LDL-C, Castelli I and II index, and increased antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase activities. When compared to PG, SG reduced waist circumference and increased the activity of glutathione peroxidase. There were no changes in markers of oxidative and inflammatory stress. Probiotic mix supplementation associated with dietary intervention reduced abdominal adiposity and cardiovascular risk markers and increased antioxidant enzymes activities effectively than dietary intervention isolated. Ecosystem-wide analysis of probiotic use effects on the gut microbiota revealed a genera specific influence, and one of which (TM7) represents a promising novel target for obesity treatment.
