Eligibility

Age
18 Years to No maximum

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Have stage III periodontitis, grade B; have at least 10 teeth present with probing depth greater than or equal to 5 mm; clinical attachment level greater than or equal to 5 mm; bleeding index to probing less than 30%; minimum age of 18 years; both genders

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Smokers; diabetics; patients with anemia; cancer; pregnant; antibiotic use in the last 6 months; anti-inflammatory use in the last 3 months

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate the action of methylene blue in a solution of 0,25% sodium dodecylsulfate in phosphate-buffered saline as an adjunct to the treatment of periodontitis, verifying the amount of colony forming unit of microbiological samples collected before and after the application of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To compare the effect of methylene blue in phosphate-buffered saline with methylene blue in a solution of 0,25% sodium dodecylsulfate in phosphate-buffered saline; evaluating the reduction of periodontal pockets through the following periodontal clinical parameters: clinical probing depth, which measures the distance between the gingival margin and the bottom of the pocket; the bleeding on probing index; and the clinical attachment level, which measures the distance between the enamel-cement junction and the bottom of the pocket
