Interventions

This is a randomized controlled clinical trial of two arms, single-blind. Experimental group: 20 volunteers will perform front squat with parallel depth. Control group: 20 volunteers will perform back

Eligibility

Age
18 Years to 39 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Volunteers aged between 18 and 39 years; have previous experience with resistance training but have not practiced it for at least six months; present negative responses to all items of the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire PAR-Q; have no health problems that prevent participation in the proposed training; do not use anabolic steroids

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Volunteers who start creatine supplementation during the training period; start anabolic steroid use during the training period; perform other hip extension exercises except those provided in the study training program; perform hip abduction exercises; present acute or chronic musculoskeletal injuries that may compromise exercise performance training progression or safe participation in any phase of the proposed training program

MeasureTime frame
An increase in maximal hip extension strength and gluteus maximus muscle thickness is expected after 12 weeks of training with front and back squats verified through isokinetic strength testing on the Biodex System 4 isokinetic dynamometer and gluteus maximus muscle thickness measurement via ultrasound in the superior middle and inferior regions and longitudinal proximal middle and distal regions using repeated measures analysis of variance ANOVA with a significance level of p less than 0,05 to compare pre and post-training moments and the different intervention groups

Differences in regional gluteus maximus muscle thickness between intervention groups are expected to be observed verified via ultrasound to assess three gluteus maximus regions superior middle and inferior and three longitudinal regions proximal middle and distal using repeated measures analysis of variance ANOVA with a significance level of p less than 0,05 to compare groups and assessment moments;Differences in ankle knee and hip joint kinematics during squat execution between intervention groups are expected to be observed verified via kinematic analysis using Kinovea software version 2023 1 2 to measure joint angles using repeated measures analysis of variance ANOVA with a significance level of p less than 0,05 to compare groups and assessment moments
