Interventions

Intervention group: 20 subjects with upper trapezius muscle contraction will receive radiofrequency application in a single treatment session, according to the following protocol: 1) The participant w
2) Hygiene of upper trapezius muscle with Higisystem - brand Buona Vita, product containing chlorhexidine solution (antiseptic action), dimethicone (lubricant) and urea (moisturizing) - followed by ph
3) the coupling plate will be placed in shoulder and arm region previously
4) Apply glycerin, in the upper trapezius muscle region, as a means of sliding the radiofrequency gauntlet
5) The equipment will be programmed at maximum power
6) Attach the handle to upper trapezoid region and begin the application with slow and circular movements. Only one therapist hand leads the gauntlet
7) After reaching the temperature of 40ºC, the power will be decreased and the movements will be executed with greater speed. The temperature is checked by means of an infrared thermometer, an accesso
8) The temperature of 38-40 degrees Celsius will be held for 5 minutes in an area 2 times larger than the gauntlet size
8) It will be finished by sanitizing the region treated with Higisystem (brand Buona Vita). Placebo group: 20 subjects with upper trapezius muscle contraction will receive application of the radiofre

Inclusion criteria: Adult patients between 18 and 40 years of age; pain and muscle contracture in the upper trapezius muscle

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Subjects with altered sensitivity; intraorganic metal implants; osteosynthesis; electric implants; pregnant women; subjects on drug therapy for blood circulation (use of vasodilators or anticoagulants); hemophiliacs; subjects with outbreaks of infection and with fever; elitist neoplastic disease; in topical or non-muscle relaxation treatment

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Decreased pain of the upper muscle contracture, verified by the 10-point visual analogue scale, based on the observation of a variation of at least 1 point in the pre- and post-intervention evaluations

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Secondary outcomes are not expected
