Age
18 Years to 75 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Healthy older adults; Age equal to or greater than 60 years; Residents of João Neiva, Espírito Santo, Brazil;Young adults; Age between 18 and 35 years; Healthy

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Neurological diseases; Dependent gait; Altered cognitive functions; Depressive symptoms; Auditory or vestibular impairment; Inability to perform strength training

Primary

MeasureTime frame
An improvement in postural control is expected in older adults who engage in strength training

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
It is expected that interventions involving closed kinetic chain exercises will result in better postural control compared to open kinetic chain exercises;An improvement in lower-limb muscle power is expected in older adults who engage in strength training;It is expected that strength training with closed kinetic chain exercises will yield better results in lower-limb muscle power compared to open kinetic chain exercises;A higher muscle activity of the medial gastrocnemius, tibialis anterior, vastus lateralis, and vastus medialis is expected in older adults from the control group compared to those who undergo strength training, during postural control assessment;Lower muscle activity during the sit-to-stand test is expected in young adults compared to older adults from all investigated groups
