Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Brazilian women; age 18 years; in singleton pregnancies; who express the desire to breastfeed, newborns with risk factors for hypoglycemia; women who gave birth within 3 hours

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Children with congenital malformations and/or associated pathologies; premature babies (bigger 37 weeks of gestation) and those who were referred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or Intermediate Care shortly after birth

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
A reduction in the use of infant formula is expected among children of diabetic mothers, assessed by milk extraction and supply, as well as a reduction in the occurrence of neonatal hypoglycemia

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
It is expected that the occurrence of engorgement will be anticipated as a result of milk extraction, which will be assessed through urinary lactose analysis
