|---|---|
| Selenium supplementation through Brazil nut ingestion is able to improve the nutritional status of rheumatoid arthritis patients in relation to this mineral, parameters of inflammation, and oxidative stress. Individuals who have the Pro198Leu polymorphism have a reduction in glutathione peroxidase 1 activity.;Patients with rheumatoid arthritis presented a selenium nutritional status deficient, and a scenario of exacerbated oxidative stress and inflammatory response. The supplementation with Brazil nut was efficient to improve selenium status as well as a reduction in oxidative stress. The presence of the Pro198Leu polymorphism modified the responses of selenium biomarkers of CT and TT individuals in relation to supplementation, being lower than that of CC individuals. | — |
