Age
18 Years to 50 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adults up to 50 years of age and with indication for unilateral varicocelectomy.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Presence of other testicular pathologies; Other concomitant surgeries; Chronic or recent use of analgesics, antidepressants, corticosteroids, alcohol or other recreational drugs; Psychiatric disorders that prevent reliable subjective assessment of pain; Relapsed varicocele; Morbid obesity; Diagnosis of pain syndromes (fibromyalgia, chronic pelvic pain, myofacial syndrome); Allergy to local anesthetics, anti-inflammatories and opioids.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Decreased postoperative pain, assessed by Visual Pain Scale (VAS) after 1 hour, 6 hours, 24 hours, 7 days and 28 days of microsurgical varicocelectomy.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Decreased use of analgesic medications in the immediate postoperative period of microsurgical varicocelectomy, assessed by comparing the amount of analgesic doses used on demand by participants in both groups.
