Interventions

This is a randomized controlled, crossover, two-arm, single-blind clinical trial. Each participant will have one of their legs submitted to a strength training protocol and the other leg will be used
(2) 3 sets of 8 to 12 repetitions maximum (RMs) repetitions of leg extension, performed unilaterally
and (3) 3 sets of 8 to 12 repetitions maximum (RMs) performed unilaterally on the 45°leg press machine. If participants perform less than 8 or more than 12 repetitions, load should be adjusted by 5% i

18 Years to 35 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Healthy younger women; age between 18 and 35 years; regular menstrual cycle lasting 21 to 35 days

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Regular practice of physical activities; irregular menstrual cycles; anovulatory cycles; cycles with luteal deficiency; any kind of hormonal treatment; endocrine disorders or disorders involving the menstrual cycle; any injury that prevents the practice of physical activity; treatment with drugs that alter body composition

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Evaluate changes in muscle architecture (cross-sectional area, muscle thickness, pennation angle and fascicle length) using the ultrasound method in the three phases of the menstrual cycle in both legs

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Evaluate the fluctuations of salivary stimulating cycles in the three phases of luteinizing hormone through menstrual cycle collections
