Interventions

This is a double-blind, two-arm controlled clinical trial that evaluated weight-bearing capacity in the operated limb following total knee arthroplasty. Participants were randomized by simple randomiz
b) hip flexion SLR to the patient’s full range of motion (3 sets of 10 repetitions)
c) hip abduction SLR in the lateral decubitus position (3 sets of 10 repetitions)
d) Standing full-range extension (3 sets of 10 repetitions)
e) Lateral-lateral weight-shifting training (3 sets of 10 repetitions). No external load was applied

Eligibility

Age
55 Years to 85 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Participants were eligible for the study if they were between 55 and 85 years old and were about to undergo total knee arthroplasty surgery on one leg.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: If they had undergone another knee, hip, ankle, or foot surgery less than 12 months prior; had any pre-existing condition in these joints, either on the side to be operated on or the contralateral side, that limits weight-bearing; had an injury or health condition in the upper limbs or contralateral lower limb that prevents the performance of the techniques; or presented cognitive dysfunctions that prevented understanding and responding to commands.

Expected outcome 1.The primary outcome measure consists of the percentage of weight-bearing the patient will perform on the operated leg.
