Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Expected outcome 1: An improvement is expected in the functional indicator of cardiorespiratory fitness, assessed by the six-minute walk test, performed before, at 12 weeks, and after 24 weeks of intervention.;Observed outcome 1: There was an increase in the distance covered in the 6-minute walk test at 12 weeks, and after 24 weeks of intervention in both groups, indicating an improvement in cardiorespiratory fitness. | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Observed outcome 1: There was an increase in the number of repetitions performed in the Sit and Stand test, at 12 weeks, and after 24 weeks of intervention in both groups, indicating an increase in muscular resistance of the lower limbs.;Expected outcome 2: An improvement is expected in muscular endurance of the lower limbs, evaluated by the 30-second Sit and Stand test, following the Rikli & Jones battery protocol, measuring the number of repetitions performed before, at 12 weeks, and after 24 weeks of intervention.;Expected outcome 3: An improvement is expected in functional mobility (dynamic balance and agility) assessed by the Timed-Up-and-Go (TUG) test. The TUG will follow the following protocol: from the sitting position on a chair (with back supported), the subjects will get up from it (without the help of their hands), walk and go around a Chinese demarcation plate positioned on the ground three meters away and return to sit (with the back supported). Two attempts will be made at each of the speeds: maximum (TUG-m) and usual (TUG-h), with a 1-minute interval between each attempt, with the shortest time for each speed being recorded. Measurements will be collected pre, at 12 weeks, and after 24 weeks of intervention. ;Expected outcome 4: An improvement is expected in the distance achieved in the "Sit and reach" flexibility test, using the Wells bench as an instrument and following the protocol: participants must sit facing the referred instrument with their knees fully extended and together, placing one hand on the other, leaning the trunk forward and reaching as far as possible with the fingertips on the graduated ruler, not being allowed to flex the knees. Each participant will have two attempts, and the highest value achieved will be recorded. Measurements will be collected pre, at 12 weeks, and after 24 weeks of intervention.;Expected outcome 5: An improvement is expected in in the levels of General Functional Capacity, evaluated before, at 12 weeks, an | — |
