Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adults of both sexes; sedentary individuals or non-athlete physically active individuals; age between 18 and 40 years; absence of active or recent musculoskeletal injuries in the lower limbs; absence of neurological, cardiovascular or metabolic diseases; no use of muscle recovery resources; no use of analgesic, anti-inflammatory or muscle relaxant medications within 48 hours prior to the assessments; ability to perform the exercise-induced muscle damage induction protocol in the hamstring muscles; signing of the Informed Consent Form

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Athletes; presence of active or recent musculoskeletal injuries in the lower limbs; diagnosis of neurological, cardiovascular or metabolic diseases that contraindicate the procedures; use of muscle recovery resources; use of analgesic, anti-inflammatory or muscle relaxant medications within 48 hours prior to the assessments; inability to perform the exercise-induced muscle damage induction protocol in the hamstring muscles

Expected outcome 1: It is expected that the application of low-frequency alternating current will promote a faster recovery of knee flexor muscle strength after exercise-induced fatigue, assessed by maximal voluntary isometric contraction, based on the identification of an increase of at least 5% in strength values during the 24-, 48-, and 72-hour follow-up assessments compared to the immediate post-exercise measurement;Outcome found 1: A faster recovery of knee flexor muscle strength was observed in the group submitted to low-frequency alternating current compared to the placebo group, assessed by maximal voluntary isometric contraction, with increases greater than 10% in strength values during post-fatigue follow-up assessments

Expected outcome 2: It is expected that the application of low-frequency alternating current will reduce muscle pain after exercise-induced fatigue, assessed using validated pain scales, based on the identification of a reduction of at least 20% in pain scores during the 24-, 48-, and 72-hour follow-up assessments compared to the immediate post-exercise measurement;Outcome found 2: A reduction in muscle pain was observed in the group submitted to low-frequency alternating current compared to the placebo group, assessed using validated pain scales, with reductions greater than 20% in pain scores during post-fatigue follow-up assessments
