Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Individuals aged 18 years or older; both sexes; diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus; registered at the participating healthcare units

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individuals with cognitive or communication impairments that compromise their understanding of the Informed Consent Form; understanding of the data collection instruments; participation in the proposed activities

To evaluate the effect of an educational intervention on the self-care behaviors of people with type 2 diabetes mellitus, using a self-care assessment questionnaire, by comparing the scores obtained before and after the intervention and between the intervention and control groups, using the change in the participants’ self-care questionnaire scores as the evaluation parameter

To evaluate the effect of an educational intervention on the clinical and anthropometric parameters of people with type 2 diabetes mellitus, using measurements of glycated hemoglobin, triglycerides, blood pressure, weight, height, body mass index, and waist circumference, as verified by comparing the values obtained before and after the intervention and between the intervention and control groups, using changes in the participants’ clinical and anthropometric values as evaluation parameters
