Interventions

This is a randomized clinical trial, where in Phase III for the functional food intervention, people living with HIV (PLHIV) will be divided into two groups as follows: Chia Group (Salvia Hispanica L)
and the Control Group: (n=15 people with HIV), who will continue with their normal usual diet. Both groups will be monitored over a period of up to 120 days.

Eligibility

Age
18 Years to 60 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adults with positive HIV serology; of both sexes; aged over 18 and under 60 years; undergoing antiretroviral therapy; registered at the outpatient clinic of the Specialized Care Service of Macaé, between 2016 and 2025; who accept nutritional care and agree to sign the Informed Consent Form, as approved by the Ethics Committee of Macaé.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Pregnant women; children and adolescents; patients over 60 years of age; people with negative HIV serology; those who do not sign the Informed Consent Form and are in PHASE II of the study; individuals who do not comply with the established period for ingestion of the product (bread enriched with organic flaxseed); those who are using medications for dyslipidemia and glucocorticoids; those who have a diagnosis of lactose intolerance, egg protein intolerance and/or gluten intolerance.

MeasureTime frame
It is expected to evaluate changes in weight and biomarker rates, comparing these indicators between the group that will consume functional foods and the control group, that is, the group that will not consume the functional food.
