Age
18 Years to 65 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Research participants who underwent video cholecystectomy in two hospitals in the north of Rio Grande do Sul and presented postoperative paralytic ileus

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: history of allergies to gum components; diseases that worsen intestinal transit; diabetic patients; patients with chewing difficulties

MeasureTime frame
Coffee-flavored chewing gum with added trigonelline is expected to be effective in the treatment of postoperative paralytic ileus.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
It is expected to reduce the period for the first post-surgical defecation after using the gum, as well as reducing hospital stays.
