A group of 20 healthy volunteers, over 18 years old, with no complaints of nasal obstruction were recruited to participate in the study. The individuals were seen at the otorhinolaryngology outpatient

Age
18 Years to 60 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Healthy volunteers; both genders; non smokers; age between 18 and 60 years; weight within the variation limit of 15% of the weight considered normal for men and women, taking into account height and physical structure;No complaints of nasal obstruction or obstructive anatomical alterations of the nasal cavity

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Volunteers who had upper airway infection, allergic or non-allergic rhinitis, anatomical alteration that caused partial or total nasal obstruction in the airway higher; Volunteers using medications with action on the Central Nervous System; Volunteers with neuromuscular diseases. Volunteers with uncontrolled chronic diseases. Volunteers who are obese, have heart disease or have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

MeasureTime frame
To assess the impact of nasal breathing deprivation on sleep quality in healthy adults without OSA through polysomnography.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To determine whether the changes observed during acute nasal obstruction are those same as those found in patients with obstructive sleep apnea.;Evaluate whether the quality of sleep in the second half of the night, which physiologically presents more cycles of REM sleep (Rapid Movement Eyes), was more impaired than the first half, with acute nasal obstruction.
