Age
18 Years to 30 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Participants of both sexes aged 18 to 30 years; regularly enrolled in undergraduate Physical Education or Physiotherapy courses at the School of Physical Education of the Federal University of Pelotas; score equal to or greater than 26 on the Mini-Mental State Examination; regular exercise practice in a gym at least twice per week

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Medical report with diagnosis of mental disorder; cardiovascular, pulmonary, osteoarticular or respiratory disease contraindicating intense exercise; musculoskeletal injuries, acute pain or inflammation; color blindness; significantly reduced mobility preventing test execution; pregnancy; score lower than 26 on the Mini-Mental State Examination

Expected outcome 1: A reduction in mean reaction time in the incongruent condition of the Stroop test was expected after the resistance exercise conditions, mainly after the high intensity condition, verified by the mean reaction time of correct responses in the incongruent condition, assessed before the intervention and at 5 and 15 minutes after each experimental condition ;Observed outcome 1: A reduction in mean reaction time in the incongruent condition of the Stroop test was observed after the resistance exercise conditions, with a more pronounced response at 15 minutes after the high intensity condition, verified by the mean reaction time of correct responses in the incongruent condition, assessed before the intervention and at 5 and 15 minutes after each experimental condition
