This is a cross-sectional observational study (n=100), in which the population will be divided equally into four groups: 1) MTrans: transgender women
2) HTrans: transgender men
3) MCis: cisgender women

Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Transgender women (WTrans) Group: self-identified transgender women, undergoing gender transition and who at the time of data collection may or may not be undergoing hormone therapy; Transgender men (MTrans) Group: self-identified transgender men, undergoing gender transition and who at the time of data collection may or may not be undergoing hormone therapy; Cisgender women (MCis) Group: self-identified cisgender women; Cisgender men (HCis) Group: self-identified cisgender men; Aged 18 years or older; Availability to participate in the research
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Individuals under 18 years of age; Inability to provide signed consent to participate in the research; Individuals with systemic conditions that may interfere with the research results, at the researchers' discretion

| We will observe the periodontal health status of transgender patients through Clinical Insertion Level and Probe Bleeding measurements, obtained by completing a periodontal chart. In addition, we will explore possible correlations between periodontal status and salivary proteomic profile through proteomics. In turn, we will use the ELISA method, WHOQOL-short and DASS-21 to correlate salivary levels of cortisol, chromogranin A, and DHEA with levels of quality of life and anxiety, stress, and depression. We hope to contribute to the knowledge about saliva as a diagnostic tool for oral and systemic conditions in transgender people in a multidisciplinary context. To date, there are few published studies on oral and mental health involving the target group, as well as on the use of saliva as a means of investigating oral disorders and the possible influence of gender-affirming hormones. Thus, we believe that this project has the potential to impact the technical-scientific and translational development of the subject. | — |
