Age
11 Years to 14 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adolescents of both sexes; aged between 11 and 14; residing in Porto Alegre - RS and the metropolitan region; available to participate on determined days and times

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Adolescents with any pathology or injury that limits the total or partial execution of the training protocol; using medications that influence the results (for example: statins, hypoglycemic agents or beta-blockers); pregnancy; who have been participating in some physical activity/exercise or following some nutritional counseling program for at least six months

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
A mean difference in HDL cholesterol (HDL-C) of, at least, 8 mg/dL is expected to be found through venipuncture collection at baseline and end of the study

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
It is expected to find an improvement in systolic and diastolic blood pressure values, measured using a validated oscillometric device, at the beginning and end of the study;It is expected to find an improvement in physical body dimensions, assessed through growth curves and cut-off points for the age group, at the beginning and end of the study;It is expected to find an improvement in body tissue compartments, assessed by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA), at the beginning and at the end of the study;It is expected to find an improvement in dietary quality, measured through the 24-hour dietary recall, at the beginning and at the end of the study;It is expected to find an improvement in cardiorespiratory fitness, assessed by the six-minute walk/run track test, at baseline and end of the study;It is expected to find improvements in biochemical parameters, such as total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol (LDL-C), triglycerides (TG), glucose, insulin, 25-hydroxyvitamin D and C-reactive protein, obtained through venipuncture collection, at the beginning and at the end of the study
